A poster introducing tourism town development utilizing the Japanese Heritage "The Story of Mulberry City," which is being undertaken by Department of Tourism Management, was put up in front of JR Hachioji Station.Hachioji Campus

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, posters and explanations introducing the tourism town planning utilizing the Japanese Heritage "Kuwatomachi Monogatari" that students are working on in the Special Lecture on Tourism Management at Teikyo University Junior College Professor Faculty of Economics Department of Tourism Management offered by Hisako Imano were displayed in the window of JTB Hachioji North Exit Store Inc. in front of JR Hachioji Station. The display period is until Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

From 2023 onwards, this course will promote tourism town development through industry-government-academia collaboration, with the theme of Hachioji City's "The Tale of Mulberry City," the only Japan Heritage site in Tokyo. With the cooperation of the Hachioji City Japan Heritage "The Tale of Mulberry City" Promotion Council and the Hachioji Textile Industry Association, the summer vacation parent-child experience "Let's play with textiles and sugoroku from Hachioji, the city of mulberry!" has been ongoing, with 11 pairs (22 people) participating in August 2025. Furthermore, in recognition of these efforts, the university was registered as a Japan Heritage Supporter University by the Agency for Cultural Affairs in May 2025.

Starting in fiscal 2025, the group will expand the scope of its activities, including a mulberry food tasting tour project in collaboration with the Hachioji City School Lunch Department and Souki Co., Ltd., a mulberry food product sales and manufacturing company, and a Mulberry City online stamp rally linked to the audio guide app for the Japan Heritage site "Mulberry City Story," in cooperation with the Hachioji City Japan Heritage Promotion Department and IT company Yumegensha Co., Ltd.
To spread awareness of this series of initiatives, the university applied for and was selected to participate in an exhibition project organized by the JTB Hachioji North Exit Store and the University Consortium Hachioji, with a poster and explanation of the project being displayed in the store's window, located in front of JR Hachioji Station, which is a busy area. In December, the university is also scheduled to make presentations at the University Consortium Hachioji Student Presentation and the Japan Tourism Research Association National Convention. As a Japan Heritage Supporter University, the university will continue to further strengthen its cooperation both on and off campus, promote practical learning in tourism town development through industry-government-academia collaboration, and put even more effort into disseminating information externally.
