The 17th Teikyo University Graduate School of Teacher Education Forum was held atHachioji Campus

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, the 17th Teikyo University Graduate School of Teacher Education Forum - Looking at Children - was held at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus. The University Graduate School of Teacher Education holds the Graduate School of Teacher Education Forum every year to widely publicize the results of its daily educational practices and research. The theme of this year's forum was "Realization of a Symbiotic Society and Mission of Schools: Questioning Teachers' Perceptions of Special Needs Education," and we began with a presentation by Ms. Junko Katayama, former principal of Higashi Sumiyoshi Elementary School in Kawasaki City, Ms. Hanabayashi Toyoyama, guidance counselor, Education Support Division, Education Department, Ebina City Board of Education, and Ms. Akira Iwamoto, parent of students at Tokyo Metropolitan Aotori Special Support School. School, Ms. Akiko Iwamoto, a parent of a student at Tokyo Metropolitan Aotori Special Support School, and Mr. Toshinori Oikawa, Graduate Student, Tohoku University Professor, presented their topics. This was followed by a presentation on the efforts of students at Graduate School, which was followed by a group discussion. In the group discussion, the participants discussed "Recommendations to Japan by the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities," "What would you think if you were told that you would be going to a special-needs class or school from April? Where would you start?" Small group discussions were held on themes such as "What schools and teachers can do to realize a symbiotic society. Finally, a panel discussion was held to share the contents of the group discussions with the entire audience. A large number of opinions were received not only from the speakers but also from the audience, and a lively exchange of views took place from various perspectives.
