On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, Mr. Reitaro Konishi, Foreign Affairs Officer, Country Development Cooperation Division 3, International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, gave an ODA (Official Development Assistance) lecture in the "International Cooperation Seminar" class of Ms. Kekako Nishimukai at Teikyo University Hachioji Campus Faculty of Languages and Cultures Department of Foreign Languages Associate Professor. In this lecture, Mr. Konishi gave a basic overview of ODA and the types and characteristics of assistance provided by Japan, as well as specific examples of assistance provided to African countries in various aspects such as economic, social, peace and stability, and explained about the "TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development) 9" held this year in Yokohama. He also explained about the "TICAD (Tokyo International Conference on African Development) 9," which was held in Yokohama this year. He then asked the participants, "If you were the prime minister, how would you arrange TICAD10? What areas would you focus on in TICAD 10? The students shared their opinions on education, study abroad, sports, medical care, infrastructure, and many other topics. During the Q&A session, many questions were raised about publicly-funded ODA, such as "the relationship between aid and benefits" and "interest on yen loans," and it was evident that the students were trying to gain a deeper understanding of ODA.
Participating students commented, "I gained a lot of knowledge because I learned that my perception was wrong," "I learned a lot because you answered many questions," "I had no knowledge about aid to Africa, but this lecture made me interested," and "I learned the basics of ODA while learning about the basics of ODA, It was a meaningful time to deepen our learning.
