Fukuoka CampusDementia Supporter Training Course Held for New Students at Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology

A dementia supporter training course was held for new students at Teikyo University Faculty of Fukuoka Medical Technology from May to June 2024. This course is usually held by inviting Senior Assistant Professor from Omuta City for new students, and is run by Omuta City to train dementia supporters who have correct knowledge and understanding of dementia and can help people with dementia and their families.
This year, Senior Assistant Professor were invited from hospitals and rehabilitation facilities in Omuta City, who taught them about the mechanisms of dementia and key points to keep in mind when interacting with people with dementia. Through the lectures, the new students deepened their understanding of dementia and listened intently to the talks so that they can contribute to creating a dementia-friendly community.

At Fukuoka Campus, we will continue to work hard to train medical professionals who are rooted in the local community.
